The Pecan Room at the Flower Mound Community Center was charged with purpose and pride as the Denton-Lewisville Guide Right Foundation hosted its 2nd Annual End-of-Year Kappa League Celebration—a night that honored excellence, inspired futures, and reinforced the power of mentorship.
The event, open exclusively to members of the Kappa League Youth Leadership Program, brought together families, mentors, and community leaders to reflect on a year marked by growth, achievement, and resilience.
Opening Words with Purpose
The evening began with a powerful welcome from Guide Right Director Marcus “MD” Taylor, who offered a heartfelt recap of the 2024–2025 Kappa League year. From college tours to community service, public speaking to professional development workshops, Taylor celebrated not only what was done but who the young men were becoming.
The Power of Gratitude and Grit
Next, Foundation President Kirk Nobles addressed the audience with a moving message about perseverance. “Never give up,” Nobles said. “Be grateful for where you are, but never forget to keep striding forward.” His words resonated with students and parents alike, reminding everyone of the long-term mission to build not just scholars, but citizens.
Wisdom from One of Our Own
The event's most anticipated speaker was Uriah Taylor, a former Kappa League Vice President and now a rising sophomore at the University of North Texas. Speaking directly to the graduating seniors, Taylor laid out three essential life lessons:
Find Your Circle:Build a core group that uplifts and guides you. “Your circle should sharpen you,” he said, “not distract you.”
Master Your Time:College brings more free time, but also more freedom to fail. He challenged the students to plan wisely, balancing study, rest, social life, and reflection.
Stay Focused:“The distractions will come,” he warned. “But your purpose has to be louder than the party.” Taylor’s vulnerability and realness brought thunderous applause—and a few nods of realization.
Encouragement from Dr. Atkinson
Dr. Atkinson, a dedicated supporter of the Kappa League initiative, offered final remarks before the awards. He encouraged the young men to be intentional, to serve their communities, and to never forget the value of mentorship.

Recognition and Rewards
The celebration culminated in an awards ceremony honoring the top Kappa Leaguers for leadership, service, and growth. Trophies, certificates, and heartfelt moments were shared as parents, mentors, and youth reflected on a year well spent.
But the highlight of the night?
The presentation of scholarships by President Nobles to two standout students:
Reagan Sibley (Lewisville ISD) – recognized for academic perseverance and service.
Daceon Walker (Denton ISD & Kappa League member) – honored for his leadership and commitment to community impact.
A Joyful Conclusion
With the formalities concluded, attendees enjoyed refreshments, fellowship, and photo opportunities—capturing not only memories but momentum.
The Denton-Lewisville Guide Right Foundation remains committed to developing the next generation of leaders, and this celebration reminded everyone in attendance that the work of mentorship matters.
As the 2025 class moves forward—into college, into manhood, into purpose—the legacy of this night will follow them. Not just in pictures and plaques, but in principle.
