On Saturday, June 21st, under the bright Texas sun at Fred Moore Park, the Denton-Lewisville (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi gathered for a powerful celebration of Juneteenth—honoring not just history, but heritage, family, and fellowship.
The heat of the day didn’t deter the warmth that radiated from the chapter tent—a gathering space filled with laughter, storytelling, community pride, and the unmistakable aroma of comfort food shared in love. Brothers, Silhouettes, children, and neighbors came together in the true spirit of unity.
The Day Began with Purpose

The celebration began with a spirited Juneteenth parade. Chapter members and Silhouettes proudly drove through the city, representing the DLA banner with crimson pride. It was more than a show of colors—it was a public reaffirmation of a legacy rooted in liberation, perseverance, and purpose.
Following the parade, all roads led to Fred Moore Park, where a vibrant community gathering awaited.
Comfort, Culture, and Connection
Under the chapter’s signature tent—the staple symbol of Brotherhood First—stories were exchanged, music played, and plates overflowed with delicious food. Children roamed the playground, slid down slides, and spun on merry-go-rounds while the adults reconnected in conversation, mentorship, and mutual joy.
It was a moment to slow down and remember: freedom isn’t just a historical concept—it’s the ability to gather, grow, and give thanks.
More Than Just a Get-Together
June 21st at Fred Moore Park wasn’t just another day in the sun. It was a living tribute to the legacy of Juneteenth and a forward-looking commitment to the values that make our community strong. The celebration embodied what Juneteenth has always represented—freedom, dignity, joy, and hope.
Reflections on the Day
As music faded and the sun set on a day well spent, what remained was a deep sense of connection. The Denton-Lewisville Alumni Chapter didn’t just mark the holiday—they magnified its meaning through presence, participation, and pride.
To the Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi and the Silhouettes who shared in this occasion—thank you for demonstrating that honoring our history is a sacred act. And thank you for showing that when Black men lead with brotherhood, the entire community rises with them.
