On Friday, June 14, 2025, the Denton-Lewisville (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. ushered in a new era of leadership during its official swearing-in ceremony, held at One Courthouse Drive in Denton, Texas. This highly anticipated occasion marked the transition of chapter leadership and was celebrated in grand fashion, with members, family, and dignitaries from across the region in attendance.
The ceremony was officiated by Senior Kappa Brother Emerson Lattimore, Elder Watson Diggs Award recipient and revered Past Southwestern Province Polemarch who brought both dignity and historical significance to the moment. His presence underscored the gravity and prestige of the occasion as he administered the oath of office to the new administration.
Before the official ceremony, Immediate Past Polemarch Brother Steve Johnson convened his final chapter meeting, responsibly closing out the business of the 2024–2025 fraternal year. His leadership was recognized by attendees for laying the foundation for the chapter's continued success.

Senior Kappa Brother Emerson Lattimore delivered a powerful and timely charge to all in attendance. His message emphasized the importance of adhering to proper fraternity protocol, undergoing consistent training for leadership, and operating within the sacred bounds and guiding principles of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He reminded brothers that true leadership is not simply a position—it is a responsibility built upon preparation, integrity, and a deep respect for the traditions that have sustained the bond since 1911. His words served as both a challenge and a compass, urging current and future leaders to lead with purpose, serve with humility, and always remain aligned with the Fraternity’s fundamental purpose: Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.
Following the installation of officers, attendees transitioned into a warm and elegant reception that reflected the spirit of unity and celebration. The event was graciously supported and coordinated by the Silhouettes of the Denton-Lewisville Alumni Chapter, whose presence added a touch of class, care, and hospitality to the evening. Guests were welcomed with an array of carefully prepared refreshments, beverages, and light fare, creating an atmosphere of comfort, connection, and celebration.
More than just supporters, the Silhouettes continue to serve as pillars of strength within the chapter's social and community outreach initiatives. Their thoughtful coordination, poised presence, and unwavering encouragement exemplify the vital role they play in uplifting the chapter’s fraternal mission. From hosting elegant receptions to supporting charitable and civic functions, their contributions help extend the chapter’s reach and reinforce the sense of family that defines Kappa Alpha Psi’s alumni experience.
Also in attendance were distinguished representatives from fellow Divine Nine (D9) organizations, further enriching the event with a strong sense of unity, mutual respect, and collaborative purpose. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. were visibly present, offering their congratulations and support for the new administration. Of particular note, several local chapter presidents and vice presidents from these esteemed organizations were in attendance, underscoring the deep-rooted bonds of solidarity that exist among historically Black Greek-letter organizations.
Their presence was more than ceremonial—it was a powerful affirmation of shared values, collective progress, and the enduring commitment to service, scholarship, and sisterhood that aligns with the mission of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The fellowship among the Divine Nine on this occasion reflected a broader vision of Black excellence, leadership, and inter-organizational synergy that continues to move communities forward.
The atmosphere was filled with brotherhood, celebration, optimism, and a clear sense of direction as the chapter embarks on the 2025–2026 fraternal year. With a renewed vision centered on “Time, Talent, and Treasure,” the new administration is poised to continue advancing the chapter’s impact in youth mentorship, civic engagement, and fraternal excellence.
